To Access Voicemail
Dial *17 from your Avaya phone or press the button.
**If you are provided a voice mailbox that starts with 3XXX, you can still check messages on any Avaya phone by dialing # then extension number. These messages are forwarded to your email inbox.
If asked for your passcode, enter 28292 **if this doesn’t work or you have forgotten your passcode, please contact the help desk and we can help reset your passcode.
You will hear the assistant’s voice say “for help at any time, press 8”. This will get you into the help menu.
From here it will step you through how to listen/save/delete messages, record your greeting, change your passcode, etc.

Recording Your Mailbox Greeting
Although the voicemail system plays a generic greeting to callers, prompting them to leave a message, you can replace it with your own greeting for your mailbox.
Procedure
- Press the MESSAGE button.
- Depending on how your system is configured, you may be required to enter your voicemail password and then press Done.
- The Visual Voice menu is displayed.
- Use the up and down cursor keys to select Greeting and press Select.
- Use the soft keys to listen to and record your mailbox greeting:
- Record - Record a new greeting. Note that the greeting must be at least three seconds long or the voicemail system discards it.
- Listen - Listen to the current greeting or the new greeting just recorded.
- Submit - Submit the new recording as your mailbox greeting.
- Delete - Delete your mailbox greeting. Your mailbox returns to using the system’s default mailbox greeting.
- Cancel - Cancel any new recording and return to the main visual voice menu.
Quick Tips
- To transfer a caller directly into a voice-mail box, press Transfer, # and the mailbox number.
- To leave a message in a colleague’s voice-mail without ringing their phone, dial _# + colleague’s mailbox number.
- To bypass a someone’s personal greeting, press 1. And then leave your message.
- To access your mailbox from your phone press the message key and enter your password. The Visual Voice options below will display on your phone. Follow direction below to proceed.
- To access your mailbox from another phone Dial *17 enter your mailbox and passcode.
- You may be set up to receive an email notification when you receive a voicemail message. The voice mail message will be attached to the email as a wave file.You will know is a voice message as the email will show as from Voicemail@sjsd.k12.mo.us
- You can change how your voicemail messages are stored by following the instructions below under Main Menu choose option for Email.
